Student Cafe Committee (SCC) is a student organization organized by Residential College Support Unit (RCSU) in collaboration with Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar ( MPPUTP). This organization is founded in May 2008 when the idea of this organization is coming from Cafe Meeting between MPPUTP, RCSU and HSE management.
By late March 2008, there are too many complaints from students regarding cafeteria’s services and food’s price at cafeterias. Being concern in these matters, Welfare Department MPPUTP arranged a meeting called Cafe Meeting with all cafeterias’ operator and MPPUTP also set up a meeting with HSE and RCSU management to discuss further about cafeteria matters. From these two important meeting, MPPUTP came out with an idea to originate SCC.
The main objective of SCC is to represent students in fighting their right to have a clean cafeteria and healthy food that come with affordable price. Besides, SCC also will help students to voice out any complaint about cafeteria or any suggestion in improving cafeteria’s quality. SCC also will make sure that UTP student will get enough information regarding cafeteria like the current price, how to complaint or current problems regarding cafeteria. In addition, SCC also really have a high hope to help management in making all cafeteria in UTP meet all standards that parallel with UTP image as an international institution of high learning in Malaysia.
To make sure SCC’s objectives is achieved, this organization is divided into three department which are Welfare Department, Public Relation Department and Publication and Promotion Department. Each department is having their own organization chart with their specified objectives and job scopes.
We are hoping for cooperation and guidance from management in ensuring the success of SCC. Hopefully, all planning and strategies will get big support from management as well as in achieving all the objectives. As a conclusion, we will ensure an effective and proactive SCC organization that can lead to a great management of cafeteria.
